Introducing BarCamp NewsInnovation, Part II
The response has been overwhelming that I wanted to put out a quick note of some changes and additions to locations for the regional BarCamp NewsInnovation summits.
Here is the breakdown as it currently stands in terms of locations and people who potentially are willing to take the organizational lead and host these events in January.
I will be updating the main BarCamp NewsInnovation wiki page to reflect this very soon. I am happy to add more locations as needed. People can either comment on this entry contact me via email.
- Chicago – Jason Kristufek and Tom Altman
- Portland, Ore., – Matt Neznanski and Daniel Bachhuber
- Washington, D.C. – Will Atwood Mitchell
- Lake Tahoe – Joe Boydston
- Miami – Greg Linch and Danny Sanchez
I’d still like to see if we can get interested in additional sites such as Denver, Atlanta and Dallas. Any volunteers?
Wiki sites have been set up for the regional BarCamps in Washington, D.C., and Chicago.
A reminder that the goal is to hold these sometime in January and the bring everyone together in April.
I originally proposed holding the bigger BarCamp in New York since Jeff Jarvis offered CUNY as a potential location.
Sean Blanda makes a good case for why the bigger BarCamp NewsInnovation should be held in Philadelphia. It is hard to argue his logic, and I don’t want to curb his enthusiasm. What do you all think?
I agree with the concept, but what I disagree with are the proposed locations. There is only one place this could possibly go down: Philadelphia.
I am working on a post on some of my thoughts on what I think should happen at these regional BarCamps to through out to the crowd and get feedback on.
Keep the feedback coming.

I’d be willing to host Denver too, if we can get enough participation out there. Would have to be different dates though…
