Will Jeff Jarvis, Tim O’Reilly join the NewsInnovators in Philadelphia?
I owe a great deal to Sean Blanda when it comes to the NewsInnovation movement around the country, and today is further proof.
In an effort to apply for a newer job, officially retire from refereeing hockey and just the normal noise of life, I have not spent enough of my attention on furthering this cause. But enough with the excuses.
The other day I was cc’d on an email Blanda wrote to Jeff Jarvis asking him to attend BarCamp NewsInnovation Philadelphia on Saturday, April 25 and I got jazzed all over again.
Today, Blanda goes one step further blogging about the six people he’d like to see at BarCamp NewsInnovation Philadelphia.
I’ve been all around Philadelphia passing out flyers, and the planned attendance is nearly over 100.
I thank everyone who has shown support or offered to volunteer so far, but as I have been trolling the Web I’ve come across a few names I don’t see on my registered attendees list. Below are 6 people I’d like to see attend who haven’t registered. If you know them, known someone that knows them, or saw them in the street once, drop them a line and encourage them to attend! – Sean Blanda
A month or so ago, maybe more, Blanda and I had a conversation over Skype on whether there was a need to get someone like Jarvis or Tim O’Reilly to attend. Jarvis has written about the NewsInnovation movement before, going as far as calling us The Outsiders. I started a tweet seeing if I could get a nudge out of either one of them. I didn’t work.
So why do we want them to particpate? It’s simply. We want their expertise, and we care deeply about coming up with solutions to help transform the media industry.

Hoping I can come but not sure; will be taking my son to see colleges.
I was forwarded this email that Jeff sent Sean today, and as you can see Jeff also left a message on this post. We hope he can make it.

Sean,
I”m not sure whether I can. My kids are off that week and we’re likely to be on the college-hunting tour. If we’re back and I can convince my kids to see their aunt in Philly, I might try. But I need to make sure you know that it’s doubtful. Drat.
